Meadows Behavioral Healthcare Invites You to “Go the Distance. Keep Your Distance” With Launch of New Virtual Marathon

MBH Virtual Marathon

In this age of social distancing and self-quarantining, we’re all in need of connection. That’s even truer for those in recovery. That’s why Meadows Behavioral Healthcare created a challenge to connect and inspire our community: A virtual marathon that you can complete at your own pace over the course of several months. No crowds. No PortaPotties. Just an achievement you can be proud of.

The race officially kicked off June 1, 2020, and participants have until September 30 to complete 26.2 miles. That finish date coincides with the end of Recovery Month — the perfect time to celebrate your virtual achievement! A nominal registration fee of $25 covers the cost of a commemorative race bib and medal, which will be mailed to your home once you finish.

Race medal and bib for Meadows Virtual MarathonOur race medal’s design is inspired by the landscape around our flagship Meadows campuses in Wickenberg, Arizona, where we’ve been a proud member of the recovery community for more than 40 years. We hope the cactus, foothills, and desert sun will continue to inspire racers long after they cross the (virtual) finish line.

Over the course of the marathon, participants are encouraged to follow @meadowswickenburg on Facebook and use the hashtag #MeadowsVM2020 to share photos, personal stories, or brag about their times. Then racers will submit their official results via email to [email protected] in order to receive their medal and bib.

Join your friends at The Meadows as we embrace this challenging time in our lives by celebrating our community and our health. After all, as anyone who has come out the other side knows, recovery is not a sprint, it’s a marathon.
